Founded in 1918, TalTech is the flagship in engineering and IT science and education in Estonia, providing higher education at all levels in engineering and technology, information technology, economics, science, architecture and maritime. TalTech’s mission is to be a promoter of science, technology, and innovation and a leading provider of engineering and economic education in Estonia. TalTech is also becoming a modern digital campus that offers wide opportunities for smart city development and is a testing ground for Estonian companies to test their solutions.
With its scenic location in Mustamäe, TalTech is the only campus-type university in the Baltic countries and one of the most compact university campuses in Europe. Campus is the scene of many communal activities, with a large number of students, cultural and sports events. The campus of TalTech includes the Mektory Innovation and Business Centre and the Tehnopol Tallinn Science Park, where scientists, students and entrepreneurs meet to solve practical product development problems and generate new ideas for the future.

SEAPLANE HARBOUR
(location of the January 14 evening reception)
One of the most magnificent maritime museums in Northern Europe is located in the Tallinn Seaplane Harbour. There is an original submarine, the EML Lembit, from the 1930s, various boats and sailboats, a century-old steam engine icebreaker, the Suur Tõll, a replica of the Short 184 seaplane, naval mines, cannons, and many other life-size exhibits. A trip around the world on a yellow submarine, taking photos in navy uniforms, a large aquarium and various simulators make a visit to the Seaplane Harbour a memorable experience for the entire family.
There is also a working harbour with ships and yachts at the quay, a nice sea and city view, and a children’s playground.
The Seaplane Harbour was built along with a hangar a hundred years ago. The hangar is an extraordinary building due to its architecture: these were the first reinforced concrete domes of this size in the world without a single internal support. Seaplanes were stationed there until the Second World War.
The Seaplane Harbour has been recognized with several awards: Estonia’s Most Tourist-Friendly Museum 2012, Europa Nostra Grand Prix 2013, Special Commendation from the European Museum of the Year 2014, and the museum’s permanent exhibition was nominated for the Best Permanent Exhibition of the Year 2025 in Estonia.
